Compu-Mail Featured by Printing Impressions

Rich Baker, Chief Operating Officer of Compu-Mail interviewed by Printing Impressions on the decision to become an all digital inkjet technology facility.

Rich Baker, COO of Compu-Mail in Grand Island, New York, discusses the direct mail printer’s conversion to a quick-turnaround, all-digital, cut-sheet printing platform from Canon Solutions America. Its workhorse fleet includes a Canon varioPRINT iX300 inkjet press, three Canon varioPRINT iX3200 inkjet presses, and a pair of Canon Titan monochrome digital toner-based printers.

‍Compu-Mail recently made a major investment in digital printing technology to meet the evolving needs of its direct mail and commercial printing customers. After researching the market, the company turned to Canon Solutions America to equip its facility with a quick-turnaround, all-digital, cut-sheet printing platform.  The Canon technology was selected for its speed, efficiency and reliability. “The press speed and quality of print was faster.  The difference between inkjet vs toner, over time toner fades after so many impressions and color calibrating the press and multiple toner devices to have the same output was a challenge for us in our business.  Moving towards an inkjet press allowed us to have consistent color across all three presses at the same time” said Rich Baker, Chief Operations Officer at Compu-Mail.  The new Canon presses have enabled Compu-Mail to expand its business capabilities and offer customers the speed and quality of digital production with the versatility of digital printing.
